What Nevada rules can tell you

Can I get this care in Nevada? Ask who will see you, what drug they mean, and who will fill it.

Telehealth lets someone provide your care from another location. FDA is the Food and Drug Administration, the federal agency that reviews medicines.

Permission to practise versus permission for a medicine

Can the first visit be online?

Nevada lets care start at a distance when that fits the patient’s needs, as of September 2026.

The law counts voice calls as telehealth, but not fax or email.

Ask: Can this visit give you enough information to assess me? What happens if it cannot?

Can a pharmacy outside Nevada send the drug?

As of September 2026, a pharmacy outside Nevada must have a Nevada licence to send prescriptions to patients here.

An out-of-state internet pharmacy also needs Nevada certification to fill those prescriptions.

Certification is a further permit for that work. Ask the board about it if the record is unclear.

Does every online prescription need an exam in person?

This Nevada rule makes writing a prescription a serious crime only when both of these things happen together.

The person writing it has not examined the patient in person during the past six months AND knows, or has reason to believe, an illegal internet pharmacy will fill it.

This September 2026 rule does not ban all care at a distance.

An illegal internet pharmacy lacks the Nevada licence and certification required for that work. A missing recent exam alone does not meet this crime’s two-part test.
